Tom Goes to the Mayor is an animated television series on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim created by Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim.

Before Adult Swim

Tom Goes to the Mayor started off as a short film by Tim and Eric which appeared in an independent film festival as well as in a gallery for video art in Philadelphia as well as on tim and eric's website. Tim and Eric also sent copies of "Tom" to a few of their idols. Including Mr. Show's Bob Odenkirk who liked it so much he talked his old partner David Cross to cameo in the sequel: "Tom Goes to the Mayor Returns." Bob later worked with Tim and Eric to develop the short into a series.

What's it about?

Tom Peters (Heidecker) has just moved to the small town of Jefferton, best known for its buffet restaurants and run-down parks. Seeking to make a name for himself, Tom begins setting up meetings with the eccentric Mayor of the town (Wareheim.) Together, they develop a number of pointless ideas that never seem to go anywhere. Usually they seem to make things worse.

What's it like?

The show mixes a crude yet distinctive animation style using photographs of actors which are transformed to look like two toned photocopies. The animation is complimented with sporatic live action video segments, usually in the form of commercials or presentations.

The first 13 episodes of Tom Goes to the Mayor ran from November 14th 2004 to June 2005

When are new episodes coming out?

An additional 17 episodes will begin running Sunday, June 18th 2006
