Hi Eric
A few (overwrought and lengthy!) questions.... Have you guys ever gotten any shit for building a lot of your humor on wacky people who, some might say, don't know that people are laughing at them and are the subject of mocking? I don't feel this way (you guys seem too intelligent and respectful for that kind of thing), but I just wonder if you've ever heard this as a complaint from people... e.g. David LH and Quall are obviously the real deal and don't have to act the weirdness like you and tim do. Have you guys ever felt like you've exploited anybody for laughs, and do you think that that kind of making fun of/exploitation of oblivious people is permissible?
Another...Do you and Tim feel like celebrities? I've noticed lots of fans on this 'Ask Eric' board have this sort of assuming "I get you, I wanna come to your studio and smoke pot with you, would it be ok if i saw you on the street if I could yell steve brule quotes at you and take you out for dinner?!" Do you wish there were more of a barrier between you and the public?
Finally.... Are you happy with your 'career' path? Lots of people seem to have these vague pipedreams of "moving to LA and making it in the business doing comedy" without any real/new/genuine creative offering or plan. But its clearly an inconceivably difficult thing to do and to be successful. Do you think that all the hard work you and Tim have put into breaking into this world has paid off? That is, do you feel fulfilled doing what youre doing,? Would you change anything about it, and if you were doing any other career/life right now, what would it be?
sorry for the long-windedness....and I hate to be gushy or fanboy-like, but seriously thank you for all the stuff you do, its a really refreshing source of authenticity that obviously requires a lot of work...thanks!
