How many other fans of this brand of humor are completely sober while watching it? And still get it. I'm not much for altering my state of mind with drugs (beer, sure). I was just wondering how many other people here are truly as weird as I am and appreciates Here She Comes and Uncle Muscles Hour stone cold sober. No weed, no shrooms, nothing.
:X

Weird Al looking over to one of the contestants and saying "Don't be nervous" gets me everytime.

Me! Besides caffeine and antihistamines I don't put any drugs into my body. And I think a lot of others as well. It seems to me we have more brainiacs than stoners around here.
I like you.

I think if one truly gets it, the it would be gotten when sober.

Saying "I get it, I get it" quietly to myself can be just as satisfying as being unable to stop laughing.

I'm the same as Amber: I think Tim and Eric's awesome show may be more frightening on Drugs. God knows how traumatizng it could be when watchin Tim turn into a Cat

“'You'll get over it...' It's the clichés that cause the trouble. To lose someone you love is to alter your life for ever. You don't get over it because 'it' is the person you loved. The pain stops, there are new people, but the gap never closes. How could it? The particularness of someone who mattered enough to grieve over is not erased by anyone but death. This hole in my heart is in the shape of you and no one else can fit. Why would I want them to?”

I'm totally sober when I watch too. I hate when I tell people that I'm a fan of [as] and they then assume that I'm a stoner or something. :X

well just to tell you... how do you think tim and eric come up with many of their ideas (and dont say there just funny because thats obvious) but even jim carry smokes weed as do pretty much all comedians.

many references to drugs throughout their skits and shows as well

I guess it could be worse. There could be booze references. Or religion...

I think it's unfair to attribute the majority of their ideas to drug induced episodes. I'm sure they're very imaginative on their own.

It would probably be a better idea to ask Eric himself before jumping to that conclusion

yeah. Claiming that they themselves do drugs, without proof, is lame.

I believe Eric might've hinted toward using pot in the Ask Eric forum, but his conclusions really degrade Tim, Eric and the show

Pot provides THC, not talent.

Tim and Eric have the skills (to pay the bills).

Oh, definetly. I originally disliked this show. Then I saw some funny little bits. Man, good stuff. Cry laughing.

I usually watch it sober because on Sunday nights my ass is sober. And it's hilarious. But just to let you know, it's 19% funnier when you're stoned.

It's really a very different kind of funny between watching the show sober and watching it baked . . .

When I'm high and watch Tom or Awesome Show, I start (and can't stop) laughing hysterically when one of my favorite parts comes on. For instance when I watched "Undercover" when Zach Galifinakis loses it, I basically had the same reaction he did; I had to pause the show in order to stop laughing!!

When I'm sober I get much more of the little nuances, like I get to smile at the different elements like the trash lying about in Jefferton or the various video effects produced in "Sports!". I wouldn't say you get the more subtle humor because you definitely still catch little things when you're high too.

I would say that when watching the show high, you get more of a feel for what kind of mood Tim and Eric were trying to create, which makes it all the funnier, whereas sober you can appreciate all the little bits and pieces that can be attributed to the atmosphere which makes it much more relatable and funnier in a Seinfeld-esque sense.

On the episode of Tom Green Show live show with Tim and Eric, Tim says he has tried drugs, but it was after they filmed the show and so drugs isn't where he got the ideas. They do drink though.

Well said.

Drugs are neither entirely good OR bad. They simply are.
Tim and Eric are obviously two talented dudes who don't need drugs to advance their style of humor.

That being said, as with anything, altered states of consciousness can make ANYTHING funnier.

But I myself usually watch Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job and Tom Goes to the Mayor sober as the day is long and I still die laughing.

I do drink. Smoke pot maybe a few times a year. Have tried mushrooms. Don't think I need to be belittled because of that. More power to you that refrain from this kind of stuff, but please do not cast judgment on those of us who do and are still hard working, valuable members of society.

Different strokes for different folks!

GREAT JOB!

I don't drink or do drugs, and I love Tim and Eric's works. It takes some imagination. You kind of have to leave yourself open to having your guard thrown when watching Tim and Eric.

Magical_Mystery_Tour summed it up very nicely. 99% of the time, I watch this show sober, but back when I used to smoke pot from time to time, I was the same way. I felt more in touch with the shows and laughed at everything so hard. Especially segments with awkward moments because I could feel the awkwardness with the characters. Music was also more awesome. The Awesome Show's Beat Box tripped my balls. Me and my roommate watched it about ten times in a row because of how crazy the last few seconds of it were.

However, when I watch it sober (always now, unless I'm drinking but that is rare), I catch all the little details that truly makes these shows what they are, and appreciate the comedy much more. Watching the show on a substance enhances the hilarity, but decreases the attention to detail, which is a big part of the T&E experience.

Now, watching the same episode while both high and sober on separate occasions truly lets you fully experience it. Personally, I would prefer to watch it sober.
