The Mayor's Amnesia

Postby drewber » Sun Aug 10, 2008 11:18 pm

I notice the mayor forgets who Tom is in every episode except two...Season 1 Episode 12(Rebirth) and Season 2 Episode 6(Saxman). Wonder if this was just an oversite or is it to be assumed that at some point during those events the Mayor forgot Tom? :|

I think the mayor is crazy XD so I don't think you can hold him to the same standards as you would a normal human being. :| He dosn't seem to have much room in his brain anyway, so maybe just like the Funputer he only has so much memory! LOL

I always thought of it as a totally new, clean slate each episode. Like alternate dimensions. Or the mayor just really doesn't remember him. XD

That would make sense, but there actually are a few links in the episodes that suggest continuity (like the Mayor using Gibbons' sword to fight Jeffy). Haha.

I think Tom is just so plain and boring and the Mayor is so insane that he constantly needs reminders as to who Tom is, lol.

The Mayor has pictures of Tom and his family on his mantel at home.

Lul, there goes my theory. I didn't think of it that way. I actually woke up earlier than usual this morning to get ready for work and TGTTM was on (yay!) It was Gibbon's birthday episode. ^^ Great day already.

The way I figure it, he is just being professional and impersonal with Tom- which is funny because the town is so small, Tom comes by regularly, and it's totally unnecessary for him to introduce himself that way. Sometimes it does appear like he doesn't have a clue who he is.
