Awesome Tour 09 - Camera Policy?

Postby Gordon Bombay » Sun Jan 11, 2009 6:59 pm

Hi everyone. So this is my first post and I just joined these forums. Been a fan of T and E since I first saw Tom Goes to the Mayor and have followed them all the way up until now. Didn't get a chance to see Awesome Tour 08 since it didn't really come anywhere that close to me, but I have tickets to Awesome Tour 09 in Columbus and can not wait! I was wondering if anyone here knew officially or from past awesome show experiences, what's the policy with cameras at the show? I haven't been able to get an official answer from the venue or from the email on the tim and eric site. I was just wondering because I'm a freelance photographer and it would be nice if I could use some of my nicer lenses and equipment (made by Cinco of course) to take quality pictures, rather than crappy disposable camera pictures. If anyone knows, that would be great. Thanks guys!

Hi and WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!

When I was at last years show I remember Doug telling everyone that cameras were OK as long as the flash and red eye reduction was turned off, and also DO NOT TAKE PICTURES OF ANY CLIPS THAT THEY MAY SHOW FROM SEASON 4!!!!! THATS A BIG NO NO AND WILL GET YOU KICKED OUT!!!

I'm assuming its going to be the same thing this year

Thanks Shane, I appreciate the response. Hopefully the venue will be cool about it, I'm sending them an email right now. I've photographed bands there before so they should be cool about it. I will make sure not to take any photos of clips from season 4, and will focus on just capturing the brilliance that is Tim and Eric.

Sorry to double post, but this is a question for a mod. Would it be ok if I put my questions about the camera policy in the "ask eric" thread to try and get an official answer?

feel free to post the question in the thread, but he answers at his leisure, so you might not get a response before the show.

Wish you the best, friend.

I'm jealous of both of you, I live in Cincinnati, a stone's throw from Columbus, but I'm stuck up at school without a car and weary of going on a Monday night.

I'll be honest, I graduated pretty high in my class and had good test scores, so OU wasn't on the radar. (I don't want to sound like a snob) But I think going to Miami, which is famous for it's business school, for an engineering / science type of degree might have been a bad decision, just judging off 3 semesters of classes.

I'm not really that upset, because I have friends here now and such. But I am weighing my options as far as graduating a semester or two early.

Not at all. For most people they chose it because it's "OMG PARTY SCHOOL" and they can drink without mommy and daddy getting in the way. I enjoy a beer every now and then, but I only went there because I got accepted into the photojournalism program which at the time was ranked first in the nation, now 2nd. Can't stand it. At least Miami is close enough to Cincy and civilization, but at OU I just haven't been happy.

I have a friend up at OU who likes it on one hand and doesn't on the other. That's similar to how I feel at Miami, and I'm sure everybody goes through it.

P.S. I love your website.
