The lead singer sang the part of the Queen in the Decembersits Hazards of Love and is touring with them currently (btw If you get a chance, see The Decemberists live before this tour is over)

I've probably mentioned WOODS too much on here but I'll make one more mention.

I was reading an interview they did on Pitchfork and one of the questions was "Favorite TV Show" and one of the guys said TIM AND ERIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://pitchfork.com/features/guest-lists/7664-woods/

Dude, sick. Now you better check them out.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd.

1. St. Vincent.
Been listening to a lot of different stuff but that's one band I've been listening more to since I saw some of their live stuff. Like this(more Pitchfork :[ but it's really good):

just saw St. Vincent on Letterman the other night. Nice. Song choice may have been a turn off in the first minute or so for new listeners but if they waited it out, what a treat :) Letterman has been highlighting some good bands lately...i.e. Grizzly Bear, Phoenix...used to watch Conan for that reason (well besides his funnies). Dead Weather was OK on CoCo the other night though. Glad to see he hasn't switched to just crap bands for teenies. That would be a good name, "Crap Band for Teenies" I dunno where I'm going with this anymore. G'day. RIP Billy Mays.

Yeah, I saw that Letterman performance. Solid.

Kind of would like it better if he didn't showcase these bands though. I like them unknown. Especially Grizzly Bear. They're too big now. What are they going to do for their next album!? Maybe they can Animal Collective this shit.

I guess I have to agree with some of the bands getting on national TV. Animal Collective had those strange dancers that were kind of a distraction to the music - maybe trying to go bigger for TV? I don't recall that at any live show. National recognition does have it's negative effects.

I am glad some band I know are making it on tv... at the same time I don't want it to become trendy like Modest Mouse did for a minute.

top three bands for me right now are:

Kings of Leon
Animal Collective
Sunset Rubdown

I was referring to Animal Collective blowing up a whole bunch these passed 2 years and still putting out one of the best albums this year.

I miss the old Modest Mouse. I don't even bother with their new shit. I was listening to This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About today so it's weird that this came up.

I'm into Fleet Foxes right now, I had heard them before, but this summer was the first time that I really had some disposable income, so I finally bought their album. I've also been listening to a lot of Weezer, again, I had heard them, but never owned their albums.

Haha. That's weird because I didn't think much of Fleet Foxes when they first came out but I started listening to more of them a couple weeks ago and now they're up pretty high on my list.

Anyways.

1. Girls.
2. Holy Shit.
3. tUnE-YaRdS.

3. The Seatbelts

I don't give a shit if things are over-rated or under-rated,
if I like them...then I do.

I hate this "popular" and "indie" malarkey.
(p.s. I feel white when I say "malarkey")

Me too. I miss that whole '90s alternative sound. That whole "Reality Bites" period, I guess. Was just listening to "Disarm" by Smashing Pumpkins earlier today - easily one of the best songs of the decade. Counting Crows always reminds me of a day with my uncle years ago. I was singing along to "Round Here" in his car that day and he was laughing at how "bad" the song was.. and then that Crash Test Dummies song "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" came on sometime later, and that almost put him into hysterics.

1. Best Coast.
2. Real Estate.
3. Small Black.

Haven't been listening to anything too new so I've returned to some of my favorites.

Saw Girls live on Wednesday. I like them even more, I don't care how popular they are.

We should get a "Top 10 Albums of the Year" thread going soon.

OH YEAH! New Beach House album is pretty sick.
